Divinity

Mix in a large cooking pot

4 cups sugar

1 cup karo

1 cup water

Bring mixture to a rolling boil,

Boil to hard ball stage

Whip 2 egg whites to stiff peaks in a very large bowl

When the sugar is ready pour a very small stream of the sugar mixture into the egg whites with someone stirring constantly making sure that the sugar is well mixed with the egg white every second until all sugar is added. Add flavoring. Continue stirring until the candy thickens a little and looses some of it shine.

Candy is ready when it can be placed on rolled out waxed paper and stay up.

Be cautious about whipping it to long as it will turn chalky.

This Fast Sunday

As you may or may not have heard, Doctor Nagy has told mom that he doesn't want to see her anymore. That is the bad news. The good news is that he is going to refer her to a doctor at the UCLA Hospital. Since this Sunday is Fast Sunday I thought we could hold a family fast for mom. She request that we fast and pray that the insurance will accept the referral and that she will be lead to a doctor who can help her from this point on. I know the little ones can't fast but we could all pray for her.

I realize some family members will be spending this Sunday praying for some people in yellow and black, but send some words up for mom as well.

Food

So recently I have been wondering about the traditions that hold a family together. Perhaps it is just my obsession with food, but I have come to believe that special meals is one of them. I thought that this blog would be a great place to post recipes from our family, that way we would all have them. Of course we have to start with our most beloved of all special family foods.
Sweet and Sour

Sauce
1/3 cup vinegar
1 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1 cup Ketsup
