Christmas Is Coming

Just a few things about Christmas....

1. Nathan & Liesa are in charge of deciding how we draw for names this year. They are thinking of just having the kids draw one of their cousins and then post who has who on the blog.

2. I'm not doing a calendar this year, so if anyone else is dying to do one FEEL FREE! Maybe we could rotate that responsibility and each family do it once every 6 years. What do you think?

3. I will miss you all.

Theme

So I am still waiting for everyone to vote for where they want to go for the family reunion 2012. Even mom thinks I am crazy to be planning this early, but reservations have to be made way far in advance. Mom threw out a new proposal that was in the last post, so I am resetting the voting.

How about a theme for the next reunion? Anyone have ideas? Of course Sarah and I do.

New Proposal for the Family Reunion

Okay, here is my "brainy" idea for the 2012 family reunion. We go to Disneyland for three or four days and then we leave after check out time from the hotel and drive to San Diego and camp on the beach like we did when you guys were little. It would fun to relax on the beach and 24 hours should be enough to get us all sun burned and full of sand. And then go home from there.

Daddy said that we could pay for the accommodations like we do for all the family reunions, hotel and beach camp ground. I just remember how pretty it was at night, with the lights reflecting on the ocean. Did you guys have fun there? Was the beach and sand nice? There might be a camp ground on the beach closer but that is the only one I remember.

We thought that for San Diego we would just go to the store and get some hot dogs and roast them over a fire and get cold cereal for the morning, and if that doesn't work for everyone, they are welcome to go get whatever their heart desires.

Just a reminder to vote for where you would like to go for the next reunion. So far we have 5 votes for Deer Haven.

Sarah suggested that we throw Cove Lake into the mix.

Voting is suppose to end on November 1st. But if we don't have 3/4 of the votes in we will postpone the final count until we do.

So, where should we go for our next family reunion? Sarah and I were thinking that we could all vote. Each family member gets one vote. (Even little Cannon gets a vote.) You can comment here to vote, email, text, or call. Anyway you want is fine. I have included the links of the different camp sites if you want to check them out. If you can't clip on them you may have to cut and paste.

There is always Deer Haven. It is familiar, beautiful, and centrally located for everyone. (Well, except those pesty Metzgers)

There was some talk about how much fun it would be to go to a lake for the next reunion. How about Bear Lake?

There weren't any group sites near Lake Powell. This one is by a lake in Arizona. It sounds really nice. It claims to have toilets and showers. It is near Springerville, AZ which is near St. Johns. I thought that might be fun.
